Pre-requisites:
For Science research class, prior knowledge of Artificial Intelligence is preferred, but not required. Please note that the focus of this class is about conducting scientific research; this class will not teach detailed AI techniques.
For ChatGPT class, prior Python programming experience is required.
For Deep Neural Networks class, prior Python programming experience is required.
Class size:
Each class is limited to 10 students. If more students sign up, we will do multiple sections.
AI with Deep Neural Networks:
The field of deep neural networks has seen remarkable advancements, revolutionizing the way we understand and analyze images. This breakthrough has paved the way for a wide range of automation tasks that significantly impact various technologies and applications. In this course, participants will delve into the world of deep neural networks and explore their applications in image analysis and automation. With the support of experienced instructors, students will be guided through the process of building their own custom AI projects using deep neural networks.
In this course, you will:
● Learn special types of Neural Networks, particularly Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) and
MobileNetV2 and how to code them from scratch.
● Employ established patterns of these networks to build powerful image detection applications
● An introduction to Transfer Learning and how to use it effectively
● An introduction to GPUs and how GPUs help accelerate neural network training
● Build your own custom A.I. with Deep Neural Networks. We will provide ideas and you can also bring your own!
● Demo your app to your parents, teachers and peers on Demo Day! It’s time to unveil your masterpiece!

Conducting science research with AI:
In the rapidly evolving world of technology, conducting research is a crucial skill for presenting your contributions and innovations. Within this context, AI presents a unique opportunity to leverage data within
the research process to generate powerful outcomes. This course will delve into the various facets of research, guiding you on how to effectively organize and devise a strategic plan for your study. You will learn the methodologies for conducting robust research and the techniques for reporting your findings, making them suitable for presentation at science fairs or for publication in academic journals. Join us to enhance your research skills and make a meaningful impact in the field of technology. Every student will follow a pre-set project plan that leverages data and AI in a research context, focusing on how to plan and execute the project strategically. In addition, students will be exposed to research results from other high schoolers – providing inspiration for what can be achieved via research with AI.
The course will cover:
● Formulating a hypothesis
● Research methodology
● Running experiments
● Analyzing results
● Maintaining lab notebook

Building Applications with ChatGPT APIs:
The recent trends of large language models (LLMs) and generative AIs have made it possible to build
applications that were previously hard to even imagine. In this exciting workshop, students will learn how AI
and large language models work, and will build several applications using these technologies. Every student
will build a custom application using ChatGPT API.
In this course, you will:
● Learn what AI is and how AI works
● Learn the different types of AI
● Learn Natural Language Processing and how it works. Build your first natural language processing app
for sentiment analysis
● Learn about the history of ChatGPT
● Learn how to use ChatGPT to build web apps using Python
● Build your custom ChatGPT powered project! We will provide ideas and you can also bring your own!
