What Is Gandhi Camp All About?
This unique camp, now in its fourth decade, has provided an opportunity to hundreds of youth to discover their true potential, connect with themselves and others on a deeper level, and reinforce their values. This overnight one week camp emphasizes teamwork, discipline, leadership, unity, and a spirit of service. This camp focusses on the following:
- Self-help and Self-discipline
- Friendship and mutual respect
- Service to others
- Truth and Honesty
- Non- violence and love
- Respect for the environment
- Integrated physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual development
- Yoga and meditation
- Fun, sports, and Games
Community service projects, sports, cultural activities, discussions, and friendship building group games. Optional activities include daily jogging and daily swimming. Teamwork and unity are emphasized, and leadership opportunities and training is provided. Campers, 16 and older can apply to be a junior counselor, and have to register as a camper.
Parents are invited to volunteer, participate in all camp activities, and stay overnight, for part or whole of the camp. High School graduates are invited to serve as Counselors, and do not have to register. Younger campers below 5th grade (or age of 10) may be admitted with special permission from the Camp organizers, especially when accompanied by parent or sibling.
