Cooking with YouTube - what my Mom did not tell me

I learnt to cook from my mom. She believed that as soon as a girl turned 14, she had to learn to make aata, perfect round rotis, dal and more.  Of course I would have rather read a book (yes there was no TV in those old days!), but one does not argue with my mother (I did hide under the bed sometimes so she could not find me to call me into the kitchen!).

However there are times, when I want to do something my Mom did not teach me. It could be how to make 'mashed potatoes' or a 'arugula cranberry salad' or holiday cookies for the school teacher, and that is when YouTube comes in - a laptop on the kitchen counter, running the video,  its like having Mom around. I have to admit that now, I use YouTube for even Indian dishes (stuff my mom forgot to tell me about)...
