I tend to be an adventurous eater and today sure was an adventure at Samovar tea lounge! Located on the corner of 18th and Sanchez streets in San Francisco, Samovar is a trendy, Asian inspired tea lounge. They offer an overwhelming variety of teas and a few brunch/lunch items.
I ordered the roasted duck jook. Jook, you might ask? Me too for that matter, I thought it would be a stir fry but I ended up eating a rice porridge with duck. The consistency was oat meal like however the robust flavors of ginger and lemongrass were savory accents to the dish. I also appreciated the side of 'sriracha' hot sauce, scallions and peanuts. 
My tea sommelier recommended the white blossom tea which was fantastic due to its light body and thorough floral essence. 
Samovar was overall a good experience due to its ambiance, friendly wait staff and fulfilling tea.
