ELIGIBILITY: STUDENTS IN 4th - 9th Grade 

Debate Topics: Students must prepare debates on both topics.

 - Should students be allowed to go out during lunch ?  

 - Is playing the lottery a good idea?

Debate Format and Rules

Each participant will prepare on the both the topics provided above. They will get to debate on both the topics. Students will be notified one week in advance if they have to prepare “For” or “Against” the topic. But if you have a preference to speak in favor or against, make sure to mention in the  topics choice below

Speeches will be presented in front of the judges and their parents only 

Participants cannot hear other students’ speeches.

Opponents will be of the similar age group.

Judges will announce the winner after each debate

Debate Speeches Format

Constructive (Proposition) up to 3 minutes

Constructive (Opposition) 3 minutes maximum

1 minute break (if required by the participant)

Rebuttal (Proposition) up to 2 minutes maximum

1 minute break (if required by the participant)

Rebuttal (opposition) 2 minutes maximum

Closing (Proposition) 1 minute maximum

Closing (Opposition) 1 minute maximum

(1-3 grade) - Poem Recitation Competition Event

Two poems, each with at least 3 paragraphs.

TOURNAMENT RULES AND TOPICS

------------------------------------------------------------

1.      Participants will be divided into groups based on their age.

2.      In Round 1, participants will recite both the poems (1-3 grades) in front of their respective groups & the judges.

3.      Poem must be memorized & each of the poem must be at least 3 paragraph long.

4.      Selected students from Round 1 will proceed to Round 2

5.      Students will present their same Poems again in Round 2.

6.      Winners of Round 2 then move on to the final round & compete for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place.
