Description: It’s become very hard to get into a good college. Students, and families, have to start planning early to ensure they create a solid foundation for applying to colleges. This workshop would guide the students, and families, with the following questions:

How do College Admissions work in the U.S.? How is the process different from what we experienced in India? Why are school grades not enough to get into a good college?

What are the important college admissions related activities that need to be completed in each grade?

Presenters:

Mrs. Shari Schussel:  Shari has over a decade of experience in college admissions. She is currently an external application and essay reader for UC Berkeley. She worked as a college admissions counselor at Monta Vista high school in Cupertino for eight years.

Mr. Vinnie Gupta: Vinnie is the co-founder and CEO of UCEazy, a company with a mission to help first generation immigrant families with college admissions. He is a first generation immigrant himself and went through the very stressful college admissions process for his children. Through this journey, he learned several strategies and techniques that he loves to share with other immigrant families. He is a highly sought after speaker and has been interviewed on several radio programs and publications.
